Okay, so I thought this might be a good way to introduce my way of thinking... by showing you guys which people I admire.
And by people, I mean people related to food things - so pastry chefs, chef-chefs, foodies, food bloggers, et al.
Other people don't count.
Because that would take forever.
(It's already taking forever.)
I'm an avid consumer of the Food Network and Travel Channel, so a big chunk of these are celebs.
(also, Urban Dictionary, you are hilarious ♥)
Alton Brown. Of course.
AB is godly in my book. I want to be like him. If I wasn't such a frugal miser, I would have all his books. Why, back when Good Eats was new, I wanted his babies, too. (Now, not so much. I don't like the scruffy look.)
Basically, food + science = awesome
I need to be more science-y in my baking and cooking. I've heard that the best way to bake is to go by weight, and one day, when I grow up, I will do that.
I love Geof from Charm City Cakes. (Duff? Meh.)
His precision amazes me. I want to be like that.
Though, I am a bit of a perfectionist, so maybe I could be like him.
(I also want to be laid-back and chill like him, but that's another story.)
Diamonds for Dessert is one of my blogging heroes. All her stuff is adorable and she has some geeky projects. I love how she makes clear instructions for everything she does. Sharing is caring. :)
I don't always have time to read my blogs, but I make it a habit to always see all of her new projects.
And, last, but hardly least, is my Mom.
She started me baking and it seems that everything she makes is wonderful (except this one sponge cake many, many years ago. lol). She helps troubleshoot my problems and gives me advice.
I love my Mom. :)
Other Cool People I like:
Cake Wrecks is hilarious! If I ever have a legitimate baking biz, I'd want to make a homage to a wreck or two. Except I'd be worried people would think that's the limit of my abilities. Hm.
One of the few blogs I routinely read.
Not Martha hasn't been posting that many food related projects lately, but she always finds and shares cool links.
My high school friend, Taneem and her blog. She's doing a really admirable job of going though the entire The Bread Baker's Apprentice. Yup. That's pretty damn impressive.
(On a side note, I haven't seen Julie/Julia yet (Amy Adams!). Gotta get on that.)
I want to visit the world like Andrew Zimmern... but not eat the foods he eats. I like the idea that one of the tag-lines of his show is learning about cultures by eating their food.
Another Travel Channel star, Anthony Bourdain, is also super fun to watch. Yay! Jaded restaurateur!
I also love, love watching Adam Richman from Man v. Food, but dude, that's one reason America is fat. (More on that in the future)
Michael Chu of Cooking for Engineers is awesome, though I haven't read too much of his blog.
I think I have a thing for engineers. Probably because both my parents (and practically all of my family friends) are engineers and I wish I was one except I hate math.
Bakerella is always a cool cookie (cakey? Cake pop-y.) Her stuff is adorable, but I feel like she's got too much hype.
And I generally don't like things with too much hype. (I begrudgingly got an ipod, but it was very painful at first.) (This does not apply to google and their android OS.)
I do, however, vehemently adore her sprinkle collection.
I really like Snack or Die, though some times her stuff isn't all that pretty. I like it when bloggers put up detailed information on how to create their treats.
After Alton Brown, my favorite Food Network celeb chef is Tyler Florence.
He is cute, too.
I love watching Jeffrey Steingarten on Iron Chef America.
I love Masaharu Morimoto ever since the original Iron Chef. He was the coolest of the original three Iron Chefs. :)
(I want to be on Iron Chef to eat all the delicious foods. I'd even eat the weird ice creams.)
By extension, I really like Robyn Lee, the Girl Who Are Everything. I adore her pictures and it's pretty darn cool that she's always posting on Serious Eats.
Okay. So I've kind of lost my train of though here, but there you go! Foodies I love.
You will notice that I like to link things a lot.
Get used to it.
Alton Brown is where it's at. :D Morimoto is pretty rad as well.
ReplyDeleteI miss the Food Network.
I don't know how to reply to certain comments but lol - "rad"? Are you stuck in the 80's? (Like in Tron omg <3)
